Self portrait, Mongolia

I arrived back in Ulaanbaatar at around 4 a.m. and am scrambling to get everything in order for my train ride to Beijing tomorrow. Yikes. So this is just a short post to let the folks back home know I survived two weeks in the Gobi Desert. This is a self portrait from the White Stupa, a cliff overlooking the desert and one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. At first the vastness is overwhelming and it seems empty. But the eyes and brain adjust and reveal a profusion of colors and shapes and textures. I could have sat there for hours.

More to come when time permits!
